Kerajaan Perlak

Kerajaan perlak adalah kerajaan islam yang pertama di Indonesia,letaknya di Aceh timur dengan pusat di dekat sungai Peureula. Berdiri kira-kira pada tahun 840 M (hari selasa,1 Muharam 225 H). pada awalnya kerajaan ini dikuasai keturunan dari Maharaja Pho Hela Syahrir yang merupakan putra raja Siam dan mereka menganut Agama Buddha. Perubahan dari kerajaan Buddha menjadi bercorak Islam dimulai pada tahun 1734 (800 M) ketika sebuah kapal dagang saudagar islam dari teluk kambey (Gujarat) mendarat di Bandar Perlak, yang di pimpin oleh Nahkoda Khalifah.

- Sejak peristiwa itu terjadilah hubungan dagang antar mereka,pedagang juga melakukan aktivitas dakwah dan perkawinan dengan penduduk asli. Maka dalam waktu 40 tahun ,sebagian besar masyarakat kerajaan ini telah memeluk Agama Islam. Maka tahun 840 diproklamasikan menjadi kerajaan Islam.

- Sultan pertama Saiyid Maulana Azis Syah ( Sultan Alaudin Syah) peranakan Arab Quraisy dengan putri Meurah Periak. Sebagian besar penduduknya adalah hasil perkawinan campuran antara penduduk asli dengan keturunan Arab, persi dan muslim Indonesia.

Sultan Makhdum Alaiddin Malik Abdul Azis Syah Johor (1263-1292 M) merupakan raja terakhir karena menikahnya putrid Ganggang dengan Sultan Muhammad Malik Al Taher dari Kerajaan Samudra Pasai.

- Pelabuhan perlak dicatat dalam sejarah karena mendapat kunjungan Marco Polo yang menceritakan bahwa penduduk ibukota kerajaan telah menganut agama islam sedangkan penduduk di luar kota masih menganut kepercayaan animism dan dinamisme.
